For young adults with cancer, battling an ‘old person’s disease’ is a lonely journey

Ms Faridah Ahmad was barely 18 when her world fell apart after being diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a type of cancer that affects the body’s germ-fighting immune system, in 2014. Devastated, she actively sought help from counsellors, psychiatrists, social workers, and support groups to guide her through a particularly difficult time, but found that no one could truly understand what she was going through. Little musician with big dreams

She may be one of Singapore’s youngest buskers, but Lyla Ng has big aspirations when it comes to music. The 10-year-old, who plays piano, guitar and drums, recently shared the stage with popular Taiwanese Singer Wakin Chau and has also jammed with Guns N’ Roses drummer Frank Ferrer.
